MSP BUYER GUIDE
MSP Lead Generation That Opens With a Finding, Not a Cold List
Useful MSP lead generation gives you a specific reason to talk: a dated finding, its possible business consequence and a sensible next question. SCOUTz prepares that conversation; your MSP owns outreach, qualification and the sale.

Short answer
Useful MSP lead generation gives you a specific reason to talk: a dated finding, its possible business consequence and a sensible next question. SCOUTz prepares that conversation; your MSP owns outreach, qualification and the sale.
A reason, a risk and a next step
A contact list tells you where a person works. A finding gives you a condition to discuss. Keep those jobs separate: an observed configuration is not buying intent, a request for contact or a reason to claim a breach.
For example, a monitoring-only DMARC policy raises a question about the intended email-authentication policy and who reviews its reports. It does not prove fraudulent messages reached an inbox. Ask which legitimate senders must be validated before considering enforcement.
Turn the finding into a conversation
Worst-first priorities help the MSP choose what deserves attention before opening a long technical report. Keep the check, source, date and unknowns beside the plain-English explanation. An owner can then confirm context instead of responding to an accusation.
The attack-path view maps findings onto a possible payment-redirection scenario, with responsibilities for Owner, Finance and Technical provider. It is a scenario for review, not proof of an attack. A missing mapped signal also does not establish that a stage is safe.
Agree a first project rather than promise a sale
The work plan groups proposed tasks into This Week, This Month, This Quarter and Ongoing. Hour and dollar ranges are planning estimates, not a fixed quote or an estimate of breach losses. The MSP validates dependencies and prices the agreed scope.
Studio proposals use the MSP’s own hourly rate and configured Service Catalog mappings. A missing mapping needs attention; it should not turn into invented pricing. Accepted proposals can become Delivery Projects, while execution remains in the MSP’s delivery stack.
Earn the next layer of permission
The outside view cannot establish tenant-wide MFA enforcement, internal sharing or every application’s permissions. Those unanswered questions are a reason to discuss a customer-approved Microsoft 365 review, not permission to run it.
Scan Intelligence organizes assessed accounts, suggested actions and follow-up states. Prospect Miner helps find companies by place, industry or ZIP radius, confirm their website and start a free scan. Neither establishes that the prospect wants to buy.
Choose lead-generation tools by the work you need
Buying-signal and outreach platforms may be a better fit when you need contact discovery or outbound execution. Security evidence is a different contribution: a defensible reason to ask a better question. Compare the stage, deliverable and permission model rather than award an overall winner.
Preserve the original account brief when the prospect becomes a client. Record the client’s own statements separately from your hypotheses, assign an owner and agree what later evidence would demonstrate progress.
Preserve the handoff between search, outreach and CRM
The earlier comparison distinguished LinkedIn Sales Navigator for account and people searches, Apollo for contact discovery and sequences, and HubSpot CRM for conversation history, tasks and pipeline continuity. Those are selected jobs, not exhaustive feature inventories or a required bundle.
Write the missing output as a testable requirement: “We need the owner of each target account,” not “We need more sales.” Evaluate account fit for search, usable records and exception handling for outreach, source and date for preparation, and whether another colleague can understand the agreed next action in the CRM. More activity alone does not establish better progression or revenue attribution.

The evidence behind the decision
35 public sources for a domain scan; 92 sources with read-only Microsoft 365 consent. Every report counts its checks and shows anything it couldn't read as unread, never as clean.
Microsoft 365 reviews require customer approval and read-only access. SCOUTz does not read mail, files, chats, documents or prompts, install an agent, or make changes.
In one example scan, the domain review read 17 checks; in one Microsoft 365 example, it read 174. Those are example results, not fixed coverage promises. Availability, permissions and source readability affect each run.
Deterministic checks decide findings, AI writes explanations and a human signs off. The MSP approves changes, performs delivery and determines whether the verification evidence is sufficient.
Frequently asked questions
What makes MSP lead generation useful for cybersecurity conversations?
A relevant, supportable reason to talk matters more than a frightening score. Connect a dated finding to a bounded consequence, an unanswered question and an agreed next step.
Does SCOUTz book meetings or send outreach for me?
No. SCOUTz prepares evidence, suggested talk tracks and work planning; your MSP runs outreach, earns permission and closes the deal.
Can a finding qualify a lead automatically?
No. Budget, authority, need, timing and willingness to engage require separate qualification. A technical finding is not a buying signal by itself.
Is checking a prospect’s domain automatically authorized?
No blanket authorization follows from a domain being public. Public-record research differs from active requests or testing; confirm scope and seek qualified advice where needed.
How much does SCOUTz cost?
The monthly list price is $279 for one MSP workspace with unlimited users, subject to fair use. The 30-day Open Beta requires a card and human-reviewed application; review the current pricing terms.
