MSP ASSESSMENT GUIDE · OCTOBER 28, 2026

What is the best security posture assessment tool for an MSP sales team?

The right security posture assessment tool helps an MSP prepare a useful first meeting, then supports a deeper review when the client authorizes it. SCOUTz starts with supported public domain evidence: email authentication, DNS, certificates and observable external conditions. Microsoft 365 review adds customer-approved, read-only configuration and metadata, including supported identity, application, permission and license evidence. The report keeps dates, sources and unread checks visible so the MSP can explain a condition, ask a better question and agree the next step. A domain finding does not prove an internal compromise, and a tenant review does not guarantee a sale. The MSP owns the conversation, approves the work and verifies the supported change.

Why access matters before the first meeting

An agent, collector or tenant connection can be appropriate once the review is authorized. Before that, use only the permitted public scope and be clear about what it cannot establish. SCOUTz prepares evidence for a conversation, not permission to inspect every system.

How the two reviews work

Start with the domain and retain the source and observation date. With customer consent, add Microsoft 365 configuration and metadata. No message bodies, private files, chats or prompts are read, and SCOUTz does not make automatic tenant changes. Runtime depends on the source and coverage; a fixed scan-time promise has not been verified.

What the report looks like

Client-safe reports explain the observation, what it may mean and the next decision. Operator outputs preserve technical evidence, coverage and proposed work. The MSP reviews the audience, adds its branding and uses the scoped effort to prepare a proposal. Neither output guarantees remediation or revenue.

Example findings and their limits

Illustrative categories, not a scan of your client. Severity depends on the observed source and context.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need permission for a domain scan?

The review uses a bounded public-source scope, not internal access. This website asks you to confirm ownership or permission before using its score. Public availability is not universal legal clearance; agree an appropriate purpose and scope.

What does the tenant review need?

Customer-approved read-only Microsoft 365 access. It does not require the customer to hand over an admin password, install a SCOUTz endpoint agent or authorize automatic changes.

How long does an assessment take?

Completion depends on source availability, scope and permissions. No fixed domain or tenant runtime is promised here; unread sources remain visible.

Can I white-label the reports?

SCOUTz supports MSP-branded report delivery. Review the client-safe versus operator output before sharing; the sample-report page explains the available examples.

Does SCOUTz replace a vulnerability scanner?

No. Evidence-led preparation and supported tenant review are different jobs from deeper authorized vulnerability testing, runtime protection and operational remediation.
