Observed control coverage
One square per observed check · unavailable data is never scored as safe
With customer-approved, read-only sources, the MSP can move from public observations into supported internal configuration and metadata, then use that stronger evidence to advise without claiming the assessment closes the deal.
The Domain Scan earns a responsible reason to talk. It does not close the deal, finish discovery, or prove what is happening inside the company.
The conversation changes when the prospect authorizes a deeper, read-only cloud review. The MSP can move from public observations and useful unknowns into supported evidence about identity, authentication, applications, OAuth, permissions, licensing, managed-device context, sharing, and AI readiness—where the connected sources provide it.
From observation to advice
Before permission, the MSP can say: here is what we can observe, here is what it may mean, and here is what we cannot establish from outside.
After permission, the MSP can say: here is what is actually configured in the supported source, who or what is affected, what still remains unavailable, what we would prioritize, what we would leave alone, and what outcome the work should produce.
That is a different buying conversation from opening with a product bundle and a per-user price. It makes the MSP's judgment visible without pretending that software closes the relationship.
The advisor seat is still earned
Authorization is not a sales victory. A cloud assessment does not guarantee a proposal, a contract, or a correct recommendation on its own. The MSP must still listen, interpret the evidence, understand the business, design a responsible plan, and be willing to say when no change is justified.
The Domain Scan earns the conversation. The authorized Cloud Assessment gives the MSP stronger evidence with which to advise. The MSP still earns the client's trust.
